Sometimes we beat ourselves up too hard. Introspection and repentance is usually a really good thing.
But lest we cross over into self condemnation (which Romans 8:1 tells us not to do) and sin-consciousness instead of Son-consciousness, cheer up! Look at how God viewed "basket case" Lot.
This will put a smile on your face! 
2 Peter 2:4-9
“For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
And turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrha into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them an ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;
And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:
(For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)
The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:”
God knows how to deliver you out of the anguishing vexations of your day.
He called Lot "righteous" (right-standing with God).
How much more does He love and cherish you, even though you sometimes feel like you are living in Sodom and Gomorrah too?
Coming back to God is as easy as saying, "God, I'm sorry. I've lived in "stupid" way to long. I ask Your forgiveness to cleanse me of all my unrighteousness, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen."
1 John 1:9
“He is faithful to cleanse you from all unrighteousness when we confess our sins to Him.”
